Medicine Hat author launches a highly relatable and controversial book about life in the oil patch
Living in the shadow of the oil patch presents unlimited opportunities for Albertans to pull up their small town roots and head for the promise of making it big. More often than not, better judgement is clouded by dollar signs and many fail to consider the considerable toll this move will take on mind, body and soul.
Medicine Hat resident, Marc Bauer has experienced first-hand the underbelly of big oil. His story is paralleled in a self-published work of fiction, Alternative Energy. This up-and-coming young author details in a very graphic way how the Alberta Advantage can be a fast track to personal ruin. With characters as colorful as they could be real and a storyline embedded more in fact than fiction, Alternative Energy is not all doom and gloom. It’s an entertaining spin on the life of a small town boy from The Hat, his journey and demons and fight to get back to what is most important.
